Climate

Mauritius enjoys a relatively mild climate and moderate temperature throughout the year with occasional rainfall. The western and northern regions are relatively drier than the east and the south.

Seasons

As Mauritius is located in the southern hemisphere, the summer and winter months are opposite to that of in Europe. Mauritius has only two seasons with minimal differences between them.

Summer

Summer runs from November to April, with peak temperatures occurring in months of December, January and February. Humidity is highest from December to April but is never unbearable, particularly on the coast where there is a constant sea breeze.

Winter

The temperature drops a few degrees in winter and this is very pleasant time to visit. With plenty of sunshine, the prevailing winds blow over the island from the east and south east.

Temperature

The coastal temperature varies between 22°C in winter and 34°C in summer.

The central plateau is at 600 meters above sea level. The average day temperature in central part is between 20°C in August and 26°C in February.

Sea temperatures vary between 24°C in the winter and 28°C in summer.
